Dunki

Directed by the acclaimed Rajkumar Hirani, "Dunki" is one of those rare Bollywood cinematic experiments that effortlessly weaves together gentle humor with a highly serious social message. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, and Vicky Kaushal, the film tells the story of a group of friends from Punjab who risk everything to migrate illegally (using the "Donkey Route") to London in search of a better life. The first half is packed with Hirani's signature comedy, while the latter part poignantly exposes the heartbreak, trauma, and harsh realities of undocumented migration.

Shah Rukh Khan delivers a stellar performance as the deeply loyal "Hardy," but it is Vicky Kaushal's brief yet incredibly impactful cameo that leaves audiences truly emotional. Taapsee Pannu also shines brilliantly by portraying a strong, determined woman willing to cross borders for her family. Although portions of the narrative can feel slightly stretched, "Dunki" succeeds beautifully in shedding light on the desperate plight of individuals who gamble their lives for the promise of their dreams.
